Children are vulnerable to the choices and situations in which their parents are placed in. These situations vary from generational, temporary, and even unexpected tragedies. Regardless of the situation, children are expensive and clothing is a luxury many families have difficulty affording. As a child whose clothes were often too small, resulting in ridicule and embarrassment I have a heart to help clothe the littles in our community.
Bit by bit and little by little I hope to help parents clothe their children, and hopefully lessen their worries. Littles in their first year of life fly through the sizes. This can get terribly expensive even at resale or thrift store prices. The first year is also when mothers are at greatest risk for postpartum depression and anxiety. So many stressors occur in that first year with learning how to care for their new little one and balance their new life. Why should clothing be stressor? My hope is to spread kindness from and to mothers of little ones. So many littles are fortunate to have friends, family, and parents who shower them with new tiny clothes in every size for the first year or two – some of which never even get worn. These parents are then left with a multitude of little clothes that get donated or sold for pennies on the dollar.
This is where ‘Clothing the Littles’ comes in. Clothing is bought or donated, laundered, and packaged by size to distribute to Littles in need of clothing. This mission of clothing the littles has to be a community effort, something that is often lost in our fast paced lives. I hope to get support from other mothers who share my desire to clothe the littlest members of our community.
Everyone can use a helping hand once in awhile.
